SCREEN-PRINTING

SM Srl offers silk-screening and screen-printing services on all types of substrates.

Screen-printing is a printing technique, which involves placing a polyester mesh fabric above a frame, through which the colour is transferred onto the substrate. Screen-printing is an essentially manual technique, albeit characterised by impressive innovations over the years. The choice of fabric used for screen-printing will impact the type of print, which is why we offer clients our support when selecting the yarn specifications.

Stages of SCREEN-PRINTING

1

The first stage of screen-printing involves the design and printing of the transparency films that will subsequently be used for the screen-printing process. The various elements of the image that will be printed are separated according to colour and impressed onto a transparent acetate sheet so as to obtain the printing frames, one for each colour.

2

Then, using special tubs, the frames are then photoengraved, during which time a water-soluble and photosensitive substance is applied onto both sides of the frame. After washing the frame with water, the solid part of the transparency films literally blocks the passage of colour, which is transferred only onto the open part of the fabric.

3

During the last stage, i.e. the actual printing, we use very high-quality screen-printing inks, which guarantee long-term resistance and respect for the environment.
